Hey!
With one more day left to the new year, I’m speaking about the series I’d like to continue in the next year. There’s only one post left to finish this year’s wrap-up, which I’ll be posting tomorrow. My brain is a mess at the moment after finishing Jade Legacy, so I won’t be taking more of your time today.
1. Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows #2)
by Leigh Bardugo

I should have read this book immediately after Six of Crows but reading ARCs and Shadowhunter Chronicles pushed it to the bottom of my TBR. I’m planning to finish this duology next year and see what Kaz and the team have in store for us.
2. A Reaper at the Gates (An Ember in the Ashes #3)
By Sabaa Tahir

As much as I hated the love triangles in the first two books, I want to finish this series by 2022. I’ve put it off longer. It has a promising setting with characters who have shown greater potential. Also praying to the book gods that I get this edition of the book so that I can match it with book 1 and 2.
3. Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #2)
by Laini Taylor

Looking back at Daughter of Smoke and Bone, I remembered how unique this book was. It was my first time reading about Chimeras and Seraphins as main characters, and it was intriguing. There was something about this book that left me sad and I’d like to see if that changes in book 2.
4. The Heart Forger (The Bone Witch #2)
by Rin Chupeco

I wanted to read this book for this year’s Halloween but missed it. The ending of this series left me hanging on the edge. You can’t end a book after revealing a major twist in the plot like that!! That cliffhanger made me add this book to my TBR; wishing to read it in the coming year.
5. We Free the Stars (Sands of Arawiya #2)
by Hafsah Faizal

I’m looking forward to reading this book only for the chemistry between the main characters. Most of the time, I end up rating YA Fantasy books low because the romance (subplot or main plot) was outright terrible or unnecessary to the story, which I’ve repeated countless times. But the romance was off the charts in this book. I’d like to see how the characters carry out their new missions now that they’ve returned to their homes.
6. Vengeful (Villains #2)
by V.E. Schwab

Of all the dark reads of 2021, Vicious lived up to my expectations. There were no moral grounds or heroes in this book. There were only villains who were either morally grey or purely evil; the kind of chaotic characters I’d like to see in books. Now that there’s book 3 coming on the way, I’d like to finish Vengeful soon.

What are some of the series you’d like to continue in 2022? Let me know in the comments.

Crooked Kingdom, Reaper and Heart Forger are some of my all time favorites, so I hope you’ll love them too 😊😊

I’m excited to read we free the stars next year as well! I’ve got mixed opinions about some of the enemies to lovers stories I’ve seen in YA books, but in we hunt the flame the romance was just perfect!

IKR!! No matter what others say, I really loved the romance in We Hunt the Flame. I hardly find this spark between couples in YA Fantasy; mostly it looks forced or synthetic. But it felt very natural in this book. I do hope we both read it and enjoy it in the coming year. Wishing you have a fantastic reading year in 2022 🧡

Crooked Kingdom is a MUST read if you loved Six of Crows!! And I’m ridiculously excited for book 3 of the villains series: Victorious, Vengeful left so much room for exploration, hope you enjoy it as well! Happy end of 2021 😚

I should have read CK soon but I’ll take you words and read it as soon as possible in 2022. I was completely floored by Vicious and can’t wait to see what’s more to come in Vengeful. Thank you, Cherelle🧡 Here’s to new beginnings 🥂
